Grace and peace to you, St. Joseph’s Community,
Upon completing ten years as an educator in Oregon, Alaska, and Arizona, my wife, Carissa, and I decided to “put down our nets, and follow” Christ. To say it was difficult to leave everything, sell what we could, and depart my leadership position at my previous school would be an understatement; however, with discernment and spiritual direction, we made the decision to embark on a sabbatical year and go on a four-month pilgrimage to the Holy Land and various holy sites across Europe.
I am enthusiastic about bringing the Church to life, and doing my part to build up the Church! In my role as the team leader for Mission and Catholic Identity for my previous school’s accreditation process, I was fortunate to dive deeper into what it truly means to be a Catholic School, and I am looking forward to bringing my diverse skills to help St. Joseph Catholic School achieve its mission of forming virtuous young men and women who are truly set on sainthood.
My wife and I are also excited about living in Salem, as we are avid high adventure enthusiasts. We are eager to go backpacking and enjoy Detroit Lake as much as possible! We are also ardently pursuing holy friendships! On rainy days I am keen on playing board games, and have amassed quite a collection of musical instruments. I love to read, and also have a passion for hospitality and cooking for others!
Thank you for welcoming me into your community, and please spare a prayer for the success of our beloved school’s campaign to aspire towards and achieve excellence in all things!
Sincerely,
Mark Krautscheid
"Modern society is drowning… distancing itself from every ideal of love and peace. Catholics, we and you, must bring the breath of goodness that can only spring from faith in Christ."
